Batteries, warranty, repairs and how to reach a person.
There is not much to go wrong on a device with two batteries and no software updates — but when something does, here is where to start.
What batteries does it take, and how long do they last?
Two AAA cells, alkaline or rechargeable. Expect somewhere around 20 to 30 hours of play from a fresh alkaline pair, depending on how much of the grid a given game lights up and whether you play with sound on. There is no charging port by design — you swap the cells and carry on.
Is there any Wi-Fi, Bluetooth or app?
None. It is not an omission we plan to fix later: the absence of connectivity is the product. A VIDEOCADE cannot notify you, cannot be paired with anything and does not depend on a service that could be shut down.
Can I put a different game on it?
No. Each console is one game, the way a cartridge was one game. That is what lets us tune the shell, the control and the board to that specific game instead of compromising across four.
How loud is it, and can I turn the sound off?
Quiet enough for a train, and yes — there is a mute. The speaker is a small one; it is there for feedback on a hit or a miss, not for a soundtrack.
Is it suitable for children?
The games themselves are — they are reflex and puzzle games with no text and no content to speak of. Note the practical caveats of any small device: it contains small parts and takes AAA batteries, so use the usual judgement for young children.
Something is wrong with my console. What now?
Email us with your order reference and a short description — a photo or a few seconds of video helps enormously. Every unit carries a 24-month legal guarantee under EU law, and in practice we would rather fix or replace a unit than argue about it.
Do you sell spare parts or repair out-of-warranty units?
Yes. We built these, so we can open them. Write to us with what happened and we will quote the repair honestly, including the case where it is not worth it.
When will brickdash and motorace ship?
Both are in production rather than in design — the shells and boards exist, the batch does not yet. Pre-orders are filled in the order they arrive, and we will not take your money before we can give you a shipping window.
